Could not have pulled off this event without our amazing volunteers!
It was a chilled dreary day, but that didn't deter the many fantastic people that came to Centennial Park for the Be Kind 5K Run/Walk to raise funds for kindness program such as Buddy Benches and Citizenship Awards for Orland School District 135. We are so thankful for all those that participated from runners to walkers to volunteers to vendors to onlookers!! It was so wonderful to see members of the Orland School District 135 Board, Village of Orland Park, Illinois, as well as Orland Schools join this community event. Our heartfelt thanks to ALL for your support!
If we can instill in children the value of kindness - to foster sharing, helping others, having tolerance and empathy, they will be happy, healthy and successful. Kindness is truly an invaluable trait much needed in today’s world.
Funds raised from the Be Kind 5K Run/Walk will go towards the purchase of Buddy Benches for Orland 135 School District playgrounds.
A Buddy Bench promotes kindness by eliminating loneliness and fostering friendship on the playground.
When a child feels lonely, he or she will sit on the bench, creating a less intimidating way to let others know they’re looking for a playmate. This in turn will invoke confidence for that child the next time they are looking to make friends.
Help us foster more kindness on the school playgrounds.

A MIGHTY THANK YOU to those who donated backpacks and lunch bags August 18-20, 2018 for the Orland 135 Foundation for Education and Village of Orland Park, Illinois backpack drive! OVER 100 bags were collected for Orland School District 135 students in need. We are truly grateful for the generosity of the Orland Park community. A very special thank you to Sandie Falco of Christ Lutheran Church Orland Park IL who not only donated backpacks, but had them generously filled with school supplies!
